Perimenopause and Menopause Therapy

The Menopause Transition

If you feel like you are not yourself, waking up randomly in the night (let’s be honest probably sweaty too), or feel disconnected from the confident person you thought yourself to be, please know that you are not broken – you are likely in perimenopause. Many women experience intense mood swings, severe anxiety, rage, and brain fog years before their periods actually stop, often mistaking these hormonal dips for life stress, depression, or even questioning early-onset dementia. This “not feeling like myself” phenomenon is a genuine, documented hormonal shift that directly impacts our brain, leaving you often feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and angry.
It can be incredibly isolating to struggle with fatigue and anxiety while simultaneously questioning your own sanity, but you do not have to carry this burden alone. Untangling these numerous symptoms (it effects every system in our body) and developing coping strategies is not only possible but doable with the right support systems in place. It makes sense if you’ve been questioning yourself and it’s more than okay to want to feel like you have a grasp on it all!

Can You Identify With Any Of the Following?

  • You want to better understand perimenopause and learn how to manage the various symptoms.
  • You want to handle your daily stress effectively, with a goal of living more mindfully and authentically.
  • You want to learn how you can thrive at this stage and reclaim who you are.
  • You want to feel more at ease, learn to advocate for yourself and feel empowered.

how To Manage Perimenopause

Psychotherapy can help build greater self awareness, self acceptance and self love.  At Freiburg Therapy, I help women recognize and manage the psychological and neurobiological impacts of perimenopause through a holistic lens. This may include utilizing various approaches such as Mindful Self Compassion (MSC), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This combination of researched methods can help increase your overall sense of wellbeing, lower anxiety and depression, improve quality of sleep as well as feel empowered to make way for a more authentic version of yourself.

On A Personal Note

I am committed to supporting women who are navigating perimenopause because I have been there. I understand what it is like to be dismissed by your doctors, to begin questioning yourself and sensing this internal chaos all the while trying to juggle the various day to day demands of life. I know it is possible to gain a sense of normalcy while experiencing these rollercoaster changes and I consider it a privilege to be a support to you during what I hope to be your next liberating chapter.

You deserve to work with someone who can address the unique needs of perimenopausal women. With both lived experience and training as a Menopause Specialist you can be assured those needs are not only addressed but nurtured with the utmost care.
